  Toms, Caplinger, Collier, Saint, and Northup
take the wins on Saturday!

 

            Saturday Drag Racing action kicked off with gates opening at 10:00, over 140 vehicles showed for first round of competition. In the Sonic Drive In Super Pro Division quarterfinals it would be Doug Miller of Huber Heights dialing a 5.95 to the 4.72 of Don Hunter from Hillsboro. Miller would go red moving Hunter to the semis. The next pair to the line would be Cammie Sherrill of Springfield dialing a 5.55 to the 5.21 of Michelle Needham from Middletown. Needham would cut a .506 light and would get the breakout win with a 5.242 pass. Next up would be Doug Quillen of Moraine dialing a 6.01 to the 5.83 of David Calmes from Medway. Calmes would cut a .522 light for the advantage and would make a 5.856 pass. The final pair for the round would be JR Lockhart from Riverside dialing a 4.76 to the 5.20 of Jeff Toms from Lewisburg. Lockhart would cut a .501 light, however would have mechanical failure and that would put Toms into the semis after a 5.246 light.
            In the semis it would be Calmes dialing a 5.84 to the 5.23 of Needham. Needham would go red moving Calmes to the finals. Next would be Hunter dialing a 4.73 to the 5.20 of Toms.  Toms would cut a .519 light and would take the win with a 5.214 pass.

            In the finals it would be Toms dialing a 5.19 to the 5.84 of Calmes. Toms would get a .505 reaction time and would take the Sonic Drive In Super Pro Win with a 5.229 pass.

 

            In the Buckminn’s D&D Harley Davidson Pro Bike Division quarterfinal we would see Larry Hunter of Xenia dial a 9.19 to the 8.73 of Ron Saint from Grove City. Hunter would go red moving Saint to the semis. Next would be Austin Stidham of Urbana dial a 9.63 to the 9.31 of Tim Cooper from Springfield. Cooper would be better at the line with a .521 light, but it would be Stidham on the double breakout win with a 9.620 ride. The last pair for the round would be John Lowry of Lancaster dialing a 9.00 to the 11.19 of Jeff Wiekert from Troy. Wiekert would get the better reaction time with a .510 light, but it would be Lowry on the breakout win with a 9.191 ride.
            In the semis it would be Lowry dialing a 9.00 to the 8.72 of Saint. Saint would go red moving Lowry to the finals. Stidham had the bye into the finals.
            In the finals it would be Saint dialing an 8.74 to the 9.63 of Stidham. Stidham would get the better reaction with a .513, but it would be a double breakout win going to Saint with an 8.738 ride.


            In the Kil-Kare Pro division quarterfinals we would see David Wood of London dial an 8.02 to the 7.00 of Doug Caplinger from Xenia. Caplinger would cut a .520 at the tree and would take the stripe with a 7.038 for the round win. Next would be Steve Collier of Xenia dialing a 6.00 to the 8.58 of Doug Thompson from Columbus. Thompson would get the better reaction time with a .531 and would take the win light on an 8.648 pass. Nick Hastings had the bye to the semis.
            In the semis it would be Thompson dialing a 8.56 to the 7.84 of Hastings. Hastings would cut a .536 light and would take the double breakout win with a 7.836. Caplinger would have the bye run into the Finals.

            In the finals it would be Caplinger dialing a 7.01 to the 7.83 of Hastings, Hastings would go red making Caplinger the event winner.
 

            In the Sportsman quarterfinals it would be Doug Thompson of Columbus dialing a 13.31 to the 13.83 of Carl Thomas from Kettering. Thompson would cut a .554 light and would take the win light with a 13.387. Next would be Mike Collier of Dayton dialing a 12.50 to the 12.02 of Rick Gladman of Columbus. Gladman would cut a .551 light and would take the win with a 12.068 pass. The last pair for the round would be Troy Clayton of Columbus dialing a 13.66 to the 16.50 of Steve Collier of Dayton. Collier would cut a .512 light and would take the win with a 16.544 pass.
            In the semis it would be Thompson dialing a 13.25 to the 12.01 of Gladman. Thompson would be better at the tree with a  .517 and would take the win with a 13268 pass. Steve Collier had the bye run into the finals.

            In the finals it would be Thompson dialing a 13.23 to the 16.49 of Collier. Thompson would go red moving Collier to the winner’s circle.

            The Muffler Brothers of Xenia Junior Dragster Division would see Kay Crum of Jamestwon dial an 8.90 to the 8.05 of James Smith form Beavercreek. Smith would be better at the light with a .553 and would take the breakout win with an 8.095 pass. Next would be Shawn Pitts of London dialing a 7.90 to the 9.15 of Caleb Ellison of Beavercreek. Ellison would cut a .584 light but it would be a double breakout win light for Pitts with a 9.130 pass. Dylan Northup of Springfield had the bye.

In the Semis it would be Shawn Pitts of London dial a 7.90 to the 9.18 of Dylan Northup of Springfield. Northup would get the better reaction time with a  .520 and would take the win with a 9.183 pass. Smith had the bye run into the finals.
            In the finals it would be Smith dialing a 7.93 to the 9.17 of Northup. Smith would cut a .502 light but it would be Northup with the win on a 9.217 pass.
