Over 200 vehicles presented for first round of eliminations for Saturday Drag racing. In the Sonic Super Pro Division quarterfinals, we would see Marsh McFall dialing 6.41 against James Emrick’s 6.48 both from Tipp City. McFall would record the better reaction time with a .505 light and would take the win with a 6.421 pass. Next would be Michael Collier of Cardington, dialing a 4.97 to the 5.86 of Leon Bryan from Jamestown. Collier would go red moving Bryan to the next round. Next would be Melissa Vance of New Carlise dialing a 5.19 to the 5.47 of Dun Bruhn from Xenia. Bruhn would get the better light with a .503, and would take the win with a 5.483. The final pair for the round would be Mark McCoy dialing a 6.60 to the 5.29 of George Buchhalter from Fairborn. McCoy would get the better light with a .520 and would take the win with a 6.581 pass. In the semis it would be Bruhn against Bryan. Bruhn would dial a 5.47 to the 5.85 of Bryan. Bruhn would go red moving Bryan to the finals. Next would be McFall dialing a 6.41 to the 6.57 of McCoy. McCoy would pull the red light moving McFall to the Finals. In the Sonic Drive In Super Pro Division finals we would see McFall dial a 6.40 to the 5.85 of Bryan. Leon would leave early bringing out the red light making Marsha McFall the event winner with a 6.399 pass.
In the Pro division
quarterfinals it would be Brad Day of Bowersville dialing a 6.54 to
the 6.15 of Nathan Baker from Xenia. Baker would get the better
reaction time with a .501 and would take the win with a 6.162 pass.
Next would be the IDDU pair with Gwayne Honeycutt of Urbana dialing
a 6.29 to the 6.85 of James Sanders from Riverside. Sanders would
cut the better light with a .522 and would take the win with a 6.879
pass. The last pair or the round would be IDDU’s Phil Borton of
Urbana dialing a 6.84 to the 6.37 of Ron Simko from Lebanon. Simko
would be better at the tree with a .529, however it would be Borton
with the round win with a 6.843 pass. In the Sportsman division quarterfinals it would be Charles Picklesimer of New Carlisle dialing a 12.09 to the 12.36 of Rick Gladman from Columbus. Gladman would get the better reaction with a .550 light and would take the win with a 12.448 pass. Next would be Ricky Shepherd of Dayton dialing a 12.00 to the 12.29 of Howard Ledford from Kettering. Ledford would have the better light with a .552 and would take the double breakout win with a 12.287 pass. Next would be Matt Spradlin of Springfield dialing a 17.86 to the 13.66 of David Rickey from Miamisburg. Spradlin would win the reaction time battle with a .529 and would take the round win with a 17.704 pass. The last pair for the round would include Steve Layton of Galloway dialing a 13.13 to the 12.58 of Mike Glancy Jr. from Hamilton. Glancy would be better at the tree with a .517 light, but it would be Layton with the win on a 13.133 pass. In the semis it would be Layton dialing a 13.13 to the 12.36 of Gladman. Layton would get the better reaction time with a .555, and would take the win with a 13.134 pass. The next pair would be Spradlin dialing a 17.59 to the 12.30 of Ledford. Spradlin would go red moving Ledford to the next round. In the finals it would be Layton dialing a 13.13 to the 12.31 of Ledford. Layton would get the better reaction time with a .583 but it would be a double breakout victory for Ledford on a 12.289 pass. In the Buckminn’s D&D Harley
Davidson Pro Bike Division quarterfinals we would see Bob Nugent of
Trotwood dialing a 9.57 to the 10.30 of Sam Cotterman from Tremont
City. Cotterman would get the better light with a .529, however it
would be Nugent on the win light with a 9.587 ride. Next would be
Rick Haupt of Farmersville dialing an 8.31 to the 11.27 of Jeff
Weikert from Troy. Haupt would go red moving Weikert to the next
round. Michael Nugent of Medway would have the bye into the semis.
In the finals it would be Weikert dialing an 11.26 to the 9.64 of Nugent. Weikert would get the better light with .510 and would take the win with a 11.308. In the T-Creations High School Class it was Walt Crum of Beavercreek dialing a 14.15 to a 17.55 of Ben Browder of Fairborn. Browder would be better at the tree with a .635 and would take the round win with a 17.994. In the Junior Dragster 8-9 class,
we would see Shelby Stacy from New Carlisle dial a 13.07 to the
13.25 of Emily Crum from Jamestown. Stacy would have the better
reaction time with a .623, but it would be Crum with the win light
on a 13.014 pass. Next was Byron Pitts on the bye run to the finals.
In the Junior Dragster 10-12 class it would be Kay Crum of Jamestown dialing an 8.94 to the 10.33 of hunter Hughes of Jamestown. Hughes would go red moving Crum to the semis. Next would be Kyle Beavers of Urbana dialing an 8.95 to the 8.90 of Garreth Shepeard. Beavers would get the better reaction with a .523 and would take the win with an 8.992 pass. The last pair for the round would be Tori Sams from Xenia dialing a 12.60 to the 11.95 of Marissa Babb. Babb would have the better light with a .550 but it would be Sams with the win light on an 11.885 pass. In the semis it would be Kay Crum dialing an 8.95 to the 12.62 of Tori Sams. Crum would go red moving Sams to the next round. Kyle Beavers would have the bye run to the finals. In the Finals Beavers would dial an 8.90 to the 12.44 of Sams. Beavers would cut a .505 light and would take the win with an 8.957 pass for the class win. In the Junior Dragster 13 & Up class it would be Shayla Babb of Xenia dialing a 7.97 to the 7.94 of Ciera Philpott from Waynesville. Babb would cut a .533 light, but it would be Philpott with the win on a 7.948 pass. Next would be Megan Hughes of Jamestown dialing a 8.07 to the 7.92 of Mike Philpott from Waynesville. Hughes would go red moving Philpott to the semis. The last pair for the round would be Walt Crum of Beavercreek dialing an 8.00 to the 8.07 of James Smith from Beavercreek. Smith would get the better reaction time with a .533 and would take the win light with an 8.131 pass. In the semis it would be Philpott vs. Philpott . Mike would dial a 7.91 to the 7.94 of Cierra. Mike would have the better reaction time with a .505 light and would take the win with a 7.941 pass. James Smith had the bye run into the finals. In the finals we would see Philpott dial a 7.91 to the 8.07 of Smith. Philpott would be better at the tree with a .547 and would take the win with a 7.889 pass.
