Mahaffey Scores again at Kil-Kare
Xenia, OH - Dayton's Don Mahaffey is definitely on a roll at Kil-Kare Speedway as Friday night the second generation driver scored his ninth NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Sonic Drive-In late model feature win. Not only is he dominant in feature wins he and his Oakley Blacktop machine have been the fast qualifier eleven times. Placing second in the thirty lap feature was previous weeks winner David Carter with third going to one time feature winner Sloan Henderson. Terry Scherz and Tony Brunke rounded out the top five. In the modified division a new name appeared in the feature winners circle for the first time as Farmersville's Steve Foster put an end to Troy's Greg Stapleton's four straight wins. Stapleton, a fourteen time fast qualifier wasn't far behind Foster as he claimed runner-up honors in the thirty lap event. Caleb Reschar, Travis Baden, and Jason Mahaffey rounded out the top five. Sport Stocks points leader James Harding of Columbus continued to add to his point lead by capturing the twenty-five lap main event, his third of the season. Defending division champ Shawn Stansell, a four time winner was second to Harding while Joe Hensel, Ron Lewis, and John Haney completed the top five. It was Hoelscher time again in the compact division with father Joe Hoelscher of Xenia posting fast time but come feature time it was son Bo home first . For Riverside's Bo Hoelscher it was his fifth win of the season and the second time Joe has finished runner-up to Bo. Third went to Bryan Lynch while Tyler Mahaffey was fourth and Shane Sparkman fifth. Only three more race dates remain on the schedule with this Friday seeing the final appearance of the IKO Mini Cup cars plus another program of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series late models, modifieds, sport stocks, and compacts with gates opening at 6 p.m.
