Masdea Takes King of the Track!
Saturday would bring the 2011 King of the Track to Kil-Kare Dragway. In the Super Pro Quarterfinals we would see Richard Hammonds of Kettering dialing a 5.08 to the 6.55 of Mark Griffith from New Carlisle. Griffith would go red moving Hammonds to the semis. Next would be Nathan Baker of Xenia dialing a 6.23 against the 7.02 of Ryan Butler from Mason. Reaction times would see a .0001 difference with the advantage going to Baker, at the finish line Baker would take the win with a 6.261 pass. The last pair for the round would be Vernon Angles of Hillsboro dialing a 5.55 to the 6.61 of Jerry Dunkle from Kettering. Angles would be better at the tree with a .506, and would take the win with a 5.552. In the semis it would be Baker dialing a 6.24 to the 5.07 of Hammonds. Baker would cut a .517 light and take the win with a 6.254 pass for the breakout win. Angles would ride the bye to the finals. In the finals it would be Baker dialing a 6.24 to the 5.53 of Angles. John Masdea would have the bye run to the finals. In the finals we see would Masdea dial 6.69 to the 6.99 of Sanders. Masdea would cut a .537 light for the advantage, and would take the breakout win with a 6.704 pass. In the sportsman class quarterfinals we would see Doug Thompson of Columbus dialing a 13.62 to the 18.03 of Matt Spradlin from Springfield. Spradlin would cut the better light with a .551, but it would be Thompson on a 13.627 pass for the breakout win. Next would be Doug Caplinger of Xenia dialing a 12.00 to the 12.54 of Rick Gladman from Columbus. Gladman would go red moving Caplinger to the semis. Steven Collier of Dayton would have the bye run. In the semis it would be Caplinger dialing a 12.00 to the 17.10 of Collier. Caplinger would cut a .529 light and would take the win with a 12.010 pass. Thompson would have the bye run into the finals. In the finals it would be Thompson dialing a 13.60 to the 12.00 of Caplinger. Only .0002 would separate the reaction time battle with the advantage going to Caplinger, along with a 12.009 pass for the breakout win. In the Buckminn’s D&D Harley Davidson Pro Bike Quarterfinals we would see Larry Hunter of Xenia dialing a 9.32 to the 9.14 of Bill Camp. Hunter would cut a .506 light and would take the win with a 9.332 ride. Next would be Roger Wilhelm of Urbana dialing a 10.29 to the 9.23 of Kevin Hoskins from Cincinnati. Hoskins would cut a .525 light and would take the double breakout win with a 9.203. Next would be Scott Sheppeard of Springfield dialing an 8.58 to the 9.72 of Michael Nugent from Medway. Nugent would cut a .534 for the better light and would take the win with a 9.755. Rick Haupt of Farmersville would have the bye run. In the semis it would be Wilhelm dialing a 10.29 to the 8.84 of Haupt. Wilhelm would cut a .509 light and would take the breakout win with a 10.294 ride. Next would be Hunter dialing a 9.32 to the 9.72 of Nugent. Hunter would cut the better light with a .515, but it would be Nugent on the win light with a 9.746 pass. In the finals we would see a 10.28 on the dial for Wilhelm against the 9.70 for Nugent. Nugent would cut the better reaction time with a .522 and would take the win with a 9.834 pass. Angles, Masdea, Caplinger, and Nugent would enter into the King of the Track Run off. Masdea would take the King of the Track Honors running a 6.690 pass on a 6.69 dial with a .526 reaction. In the Junior Dragster Quarterfinals it would be Caleb Ellison from Beavercreek dialing an 8.96 to the 9.04 of Kyle Beavers from Urbana. Beavers would cut a .564 and would take the win with a 9.082 pass. Next would be Trey Sizemore of Bright, In. dialing an 8.95 to the 10.30 of Hunter Hughes from Jamestown. Hughes would go red moving Sizemore to the semis. The last pair for the round would be AJ Kendall of Wapakoneta dialing a 9.12 to the 8.93 of Kylie Derifield from Lebanon. Kendall would get the better reaction time with a .657 however the winner would be Derifield with a 9.005 for the breakout win. In the semis we would see Beavers dialing a 9.04 to the 8.91 of Sizemore. Beavers would cut the better light with a .558, but it would be Sizemore on the double breakout win with a 8.906. Derifield would have the bye run into the finals. In the finals Derifield would dial an 8.98 to the 8.90 of Sizemore. Sizemore would get the better reaction with a .634, but the breakout win would go to Derifield with an 8.989.
